    The City of Johnson City, Tennessee is accepting online applications for an Automotive Technician. The employee performs intermediate skilled mechanical work related to repair and servicing of a large variety of engines and equipment for the Golf division of Parks & Recreation; does related assignments as required. Work in this class involves repair and maintenance on small engines, golf carts, lawn tractors, air compressors, lawn maintenance equipment and tools, related gasoline and electric driven equipment. Work assignments are received either in writing or verbally. Position requires diagnosing mechanical failure and making necessary repairs. Work is subject to review while in progress and upon completion.

    Requirements for Education & Experience: completion of high school or GED and considerable experience at the journeyman level as an automotive and mechanical technician, supplemented by approved vocational school training in the automotive technology field, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.     Job Overview

    • The Golf Course Mechanic will report to the Director of Agronomy and Golf Course Superintendent.
    • The Golf Course Mechanic will be responsible to ensure all equipment maintenance needs are met.
    • The Golf Course Mechanic will schedule, perform, record and adhere to a preventive maintenance schedule.
    • The Golf Course Mechanic will train staff on daily preventive maintenance. (Visual inspection, grease, oil, and operator safety)
    • The Golf Course Mechanic will maintain the cleanliness and safety of the shop.

    Job Skills / Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
    • Available to work early hours, weekends and holidays.
    • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems.
    • Working knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, welding, gas and diesel engines.
    • Ability to work cooperatively and maintain productive work relationship with maintenance staff.

    Lambert Acres Golf Club is a 27 hole public course located at the foot of the Smoky Mountains.  The course was established in 1964 and has remained family owned and operated.  It consists of 419 bermuda fairways, rough, and tees with bent grass greens.  There is also a practice facility and driving range. 

    Duties:  Applicant must have the following qualities and be able to perform and satisfy the requirements necessary.

    Senior Assistant Superintendent
    Richland Country Club
    Nashville, TN

    Richland Country Club is a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course located in Nashville, TN. The club recently finished a successful 20-million-dollar renovation of the clubhouse and is about to embark on a 5-million-dollar renovation of the golf course led by Bill Bergin on March 1, 2021. The renovation will consist of new Zorro fairways and tees, bunkers, and converting the current bentgrass greens to TifEagle ultra-dwarf bermudagrass. There will be newly constructed greens as well as new holes with the rerouting of the golf course. Extensive drainage will be a key component in the renovation. The new turf care facility is currently under construction is due to be completed by January 1, 2021.

    Facility Manager- The Ripken Experience Pigeon Forge, TN


    Supervise the grounds and maintenance staff of the Ripken Baseball complex in Pigeon Forge, TN to assure that the complex is maintained in a manner for maximum customer experience and playability.

    Required Skills

    • Instruct staff on the safe and efficient methods of operating equipment and machinery according to OSHA standards.
    • Apply pesticides and fertilizers as recommended by the product label and to Tennessee State law.

    • Review repair work to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
    • Develop and maintain necessary engineering and system schedules at all buildings on the complex.

    Required Experience

    Qualifications Required:

    Position Summary

    Oversee all activities related to the ongoing maintenance of the golf course, grounds and equipment. Experience managing ultradwarf bermudagrass greens is highly preferred.

    Major Duties:

    • All activities associated with producing excellent playing conditions at the facility on a daily basis, as well as, maintaining the grounds around the clubhouse, pool, and tennis courts.
    • Hire, train and supervise the maintenance staff. Plan and implement staffing schedules to ensure quality standards are achieved.
    • Plan the development and implementation of a fertilizer, aeration and weed management program.
    • Develop the annual maintenance budget and operating plan.
    • Create and supervise course improvement projects.
    • Supervise equipment maintenance and repair operations.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, OSHA rules and regulations, relating to chemical and fertilizer storage and disposal, employee safety, public safety, etc.
    • Manage employment activities for applicable staff members, including personnel recruitment and selection, performance evaluations, training and compensation, discipline and termination, etc.
    • Maintain accurate records pertaining to department activities including labor schedules, course maintenance, construction activities, equipment repair, fertilizer and chemical applications.
    • Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to industry periodicals and participation in relevant associations and organizations.


    • 2 or 4-year turf management degree preferred.
    • Demonstrate experience and capability in the areas of maintaining excellent course conditions, budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, and staff management.
    • Demonstrate an interest in initiating course improvement projects and the ability to oversee the project to completion.
    • Demonstrate excellent leadership abilities and interpersonal communication skills.
