    Tellico Village Golf offers a tremendous opportunity for candidates who desire to grow and excel in the turf industry.     The 2nd Assistant Superintendent (AIT), under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, serves in a Spray Technician capacity as well as supporting other technical/ supervisory efforts. The AIT will be intimately involved in agronomic programs as well as day-to-day operations.

    Typical functions:

    • Performs chemical and fertilizer applications on golf course properties
    • Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment.
    • Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations and is responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers.
    • Inventory responsibilities.
    • Supervises special projects, and performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
    • Waters greens, tees and fairways.
    • Operates irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water.

    Training requirements:

    Ability to complete training requirements as demanded by the state and federal governments, including those required by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard.

    Employment standards:

    • B.S., Associate Degree, or Certificate from an accredited Turf Program preferred and working towards becoming an 1st Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
    • Working knowledge of all aspects of golf course maintenance and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
    • Working knowledge of chemical and fertilizer application equipment.
    • Ability to acquire necessary certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.
    • Ability to acquire American Red Cross first-aid training certificate.
    • Ability to follow oral and written directions.

    Job Title: Horticulturist/ Grounds Superintendent

    Job Description:

    Hillwood Country Club is a private country club located in the West Meade area of Nashville, Tennessee. The Landscape Superintendent position is responsible for the oversight and maintenance of the formal grounds of the property. These areas are typically the “first impression” of the club and their appearance is vital to member experience of their club. To enhance this experience and to further improve the aesthetics of the club, an extensive grounds renovation has been scheduled to begin this fall. The landscape architecture firm of Hodgson-Douglass has been retained to perform a comprehensive landscape master plan. The ideal candidate will be closely involved with the implementation and oversight of this renovation.

    Salary: $60,000

    Maintenance & Repair Leader - Golf

    Position Description

    This position will lead, supervise, and participate in the work activities of a maintenance crew in all areas on a golf course and related facilities. Performs related duties as required.

    Typical Duties

    Minimum Qualifications

    JOB SUMMARY

    This classification is responsible for providing management assistance and support to the Golf Course Superintendent in maintaining the golf course grounds, facilities, and equipment.     • Performs various grounds maintenance tasks to the golf course. Applies fertilizer and seed to turf areas. Clears brush and trees. Mows right of ways, fairways, greens, and other golf course areas. Plants flowers, shrubs, and trees. Waters and fertilizes plants; prunes trees and shrubs; weeds flower beds; aerates greens and other designated areas.
    • Performs minor mechanical repairs and performs routine preventive maintenance to small gasoline engines in tractors, mowers, pumps, trucksters, trucks, etc. Lubricates moving parts and checks fluid levels.
    • Tracks leased equipment for maintenance purposes.
    • Assists in repair of irrigation lines.
    • Oversees daily maintenance operations and reviews records reflecting work performed, problems encountered, equipment check-in/out, parts used and other required information.
    • Prepares and reviews chemical application records, inspects and calibrates equipment used for chemical applications.
    • Operates tractors, aerators, bunker machines, triplex mowers, rotary mowers, single reel mowers, field rakes, trucks and trailers and related equipment; does pre-service to equipment operated. ∙ Maintains records in compliance to Federal, State, and City regulations.
    • Works safely observing all OSHA, Federal, State, and City regulations. Reports any accidents   immediately to Manager.
    • Correctly wears appropriate personal protective equipment when required.
    • Perform routine maintenance on equipment. Report any malfunctioning equipment to Supervisor. ∙ Conducts behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively on customer’s perception of town facility.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Olive Branch Country Club in Olive Branch, MS is searching for our Golf Course Superintendent. We hope to fill this position as soon as possible.

    Olive Branch Country Club was established in 1965. Current ownership is operating in our 7th year – Lunsford Family. We employ up 38 employees during peak season. We have several venues including Golf / Driving Range / Pool / Tennis Courts / Formal Dining Room / Lounge / Bar / Kids Room / Outdoor Pavilion / and upcoming Pergola Back Porch. We operate with a General Manager / Superintendent / Golf Pro / Office Manager / Restaurant Manager / Pool Manager / Board of Directors and the teams in those departments that make us continually improve each year. We can say that the quality of our club has improved each and every year under the current ownership.

    Our golf course is challenging with a strong membership base in the 350 range. Our tiff eagle greens were installed in 2015 and are healthy and ready to begin our growing season. Most of our tees, fairways and rough are Bermuda. We are currently finishing up a Bunker Renovation. The property is 130 acres.     The Assistant Superintendent will work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent in supervising, scheduling, planning, budgeting, training and leading crew members. This position requires knowledge of all aspects of golf course maintenance including operation of equipment, turf management, bunker maintenance, pesticide and fertilizer calibration and application, irrigation repairs and water management.

    The City of Gatlinburg Golf Department is accepting applications for an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent position, Grade 8.  Upon, a conditional offer of employment, the candidate must successfully pass a background, physical examination by a licensed physician and successfully pass a drug screen.

    JOB PURPOSE:

    This is difficult technical work involving the supervision of the City owned Golf Course and coordination of a variety of activities associated with the preparation and maintenance of the golf course and related facilities.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Activities associated with the job include supervising and participating in the preparation and maintenance of the golf course and related facilities, coordinating fertility, weed, insect and disease control programs, and supervising and participating in the maintenance of golf course grounds, fairways, tees, greens and irrigation and watering systems. The ability to effectively supervise and direct the activities of staff and ensure that they follow daily instructions and established policies and procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Graduation from an accredited two or four year college or university with a Degree in turf management, agronomy or related field, or Turfgrass Management Certification or related certification; considerable knowledge and experience in performing lawn maintenance and/or landscaping duties; considerable knowledge of landscape design, plant material selection and related practices; considerable experience performing light maintenance activities including painting, carpentry and building maintenance; ability to effectively supervise and direct the activities of assigned staff.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Possession of a valid Tennessee Driver’s license and the ability to be insured at standard vehicle liability rates.
    • Possession of a valid commercial pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain it within 6 months of employment.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    The current starting pay for an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent is $37,648.00.

    Purpose of Job

    Assists supervisor by being responsible for repairing and maintaining safe playing surfaces and its surrounding components for baseball, softball, football, lacrosse and multipurpose fields by performing daily turf, clay and water management; timely fertility and cultural practices; game preparation techniques and short and long-term maintenance planning. Responsibilities also include 10 - hole disc golf course, basketball courts and tennis courts.

    Must be able to work holidays, weekends and nights during sporting events.

    Essential Job Duties

    Turf maintenance

    • Properly manages and maintains turf on all athletic fields within the Parks and Recreation Department grounds.
    • Mows, trims, edges, fertilizes, sods, aerates and performs other cultural practices using commercial grade equipment.
    • Maintains, repairs and installs irrigation systems on athletic fields. Assist in controlling the entire irrigation system that includes, but is not limited to, proper water management of the playing surface and outside landscape, periodic maintenance checks, repairs leaks in lines or valves, and winterization.
    • Properly lay out athletic fields to regulation field dimension requirements (baseball, softball, football, lacrosse).
    • Paints foul lines, yard lines, numbers, and logos on athletic fields.
    • Performs general maintenance as necessary to keep machinery, equipment and tools in operable condition.
    • Performs topdressing of fields including aerating, verticutting, and vacuuming fields.
    • Performs special projects on turf as needed during off-season.

    Infield maintenance

    • Properly maintains infields on all athletic fields within the Parks and Recreation Department grounds.
    • Drags, rakes, and replenishes materials as needed to maintain infields.
    • Prepares fields for games by grooming fields, chalking base paths and painting foul lines.
    • Builds and maintains mounds, plates and other field necessities.
    • Responsible for coordination and execution of mound and plate tarps on daily basis and during tournaments.
    • Responsible for upkeep of all warning track material on the infields.
    • Performs general maintenance as necessary to keep machinery, equipment and tools in operable condition.
    • Performs special projects on infields as needed during off-season.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience: The required knowledge, skill, and abilities to satisfactorily perform job duties normally acquired through obtaining a bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree or equivalent from a technical school; one to two year related experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in turfgrass management.

    Required Certifications/Licenses:

    • TN Driver’s License
    • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
